THE PRINCETON UNIVERSITY TIGRESSIONS

Join the Tigressions!

This page is designed to tell you a little more about the process of becoming a Tigression. We hold auditions at the beginning of every semester, and all freshmen and sophomores are invited to audition. The whole process only takes about 15 minutes. You can audition for as many groups as you'd like, so come check us out! Find out more about the process and how to sign up below!

Why Become a Tigression? Do you love to sing a range of songs from old classics to modern popular tunes, and enjoy the challenge of a constantly evolving repertoire? Do you want to tour locally and internationally with a fun group of girls? Then the TGs may be the group for you! Head over to our Repertoire page to check out what we sing, and look at our News to view our recent events and tours. If you like what you see, come to our open house and sign up for an audition. We can't wait to hear you sing!

Your Audition:

Your Tigressions audition is all about you - it's a chance for you to relax and have fun while sharing your talent with us!
Here are some exercises that your audition will probably include:
  • Scales and exercises to warm up your voice and explore your range
  • Swells, which allow us to hear you at your softest and loudest
  • Finding the top, bottom, and middle notes of various chords
  • Matching each pitch in a series of short phrases
  • A short solo that you've prepared, about the length of a verse and a chorus (around 30 seconds- to give you an idea, check out the types of songs we sing in the "Contemporary" and "Classics" sections of our Repertoire page. But most importantly, have fun and sing a song you feel comfortable with!)
Later in the evening on the day of your audition, some of us will stop by your room to thank you again for coming and to let you know whether or not we were able to offer you a callback.  Callbacks are longer than initial auditions, and give the group a chance to hear how you sound with the rest of the group.  We'll hang out for a bit, then split into parts and learn a few TG songs before we sing them together.

If you have any questions about the audition process, how to balance a cappella with academics, or Tigressions life in general, feel free to email our president, Beth Wang at bethwang@princeton.edu.
We're looking forward to meeting you!
